On or shortly after the 14th August, and to coincide with the completion of our IP address decommissioning, we will be releasing our long awaited new website.
Our new website contains lots of handy information, links to Voodoo in the social networking universe and a dedicated help section to enable you to get help when you need it.
As this gives us a nice clean base to build on, we will be adding lots of awesome new features to existing products like the Sploder and Anti-Bot, a members area to give fine grain control and information, and we will be introducing brand new products.
The new site and accompanying web systems will all migrate from PHP and MySql to Microsoft MVC Razor and SQL Server 2008.
Lets take gaming to the next level !

Our first steps
Beginning today 6th August 2011, Voodoo will start to decommission our IP address tracking system.
There is a lot of work to do to implement the new changes, so in order to meet our deadline next week some things will be completed early.
The first step is to prevent any new historical data being stored.
The server side of the Voodoo system currently runs using PHP scripts, although we are moving to Microsoft MVC Razor in the near future to improve stability, security and performance.
Due to the transition in technology, we have also begun migrating the database from MySql to Microsoft Sql Server 2008. So in order to make the transition as smooth as possible for our users both databases are currently used in a kind of mirror set up, allowing the scripts and code to be migrated gradually with no loss of service.
The operational technology on the server is PHP, so the first steps today will be to identify the places where IP addresses are recorded and disable that functionality in these scripts. This will be completed today.
After today, Voodoo will no longer be recording new historical IP address data.

Decommissioning of IP Database
On the 14th August 2011, Voodoo SL will discontinue storing IP addresses in our database and will decommission existing IP address data, due to popular demand of Second Life residents.
We have always been within Linden Labs Terms of Service and have never used any exploits in the Second Life system to gather data. Any IP address information revealed to us, was done so by a user intentionally visiting our website which is explicitly allowed as per Section 4.3 of Linden Labs Terms of Service which is quoted below.
The Service may contain links to or otherwise allow connections to third-party websites, servers, and online services or environments that are not owned or controlled by Linden Lab. You agree that Linden Lab is not responsible or liable for the Content, policies, or practices of any third-party websites, servers, or online services or environments. Please consult any applicable terms of use and privacy policies provided by the third party for such websites, servers, or online services or environments.
In an effort to improve awareness we have recently introduced a detailed Voodoo Terms of Service document and clear warnings, before a user can give away any IP address information.
All our data is kept strictly confidential and used to enforce fair play in our Voodoo Sploder and other games and contests and is never disclosed.
This blog will be used to make detailed documentation of the exact changes we make to the system to give maximum transparency during the process. I will add screenshots, diagrams and technical specifications to expel any myths around the changes we are making.
